I am excited to join the district as a 7th grade science teacher! Although I am new to the district, I bring 25 years of teaching experience and a love for science.
I’m proud to call this community home and have children in the district, making this opportunity especially meaningful to me. I am married to Jason who is at Tri County Elementary. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, hanging out on the lake and being involved in our community. My husband and I also run a youth center in Howard City for teens.
I am excited to dissect pig hearts and frogs, and teach the students about the environment! I’m looking forward to getting to know my students and families! It will be a great year!

Hello, Viking community! My name is Alexis Kirkwood, and I’m so excited to be joining the Tri County Elementary family this fall as a first-year Kindergarten teacher! As a Tri County graduate myself, it feels incredibly special to return to the district that helped shape me. After graduating from Tri County, I attended Ferris State University, where I discovered my passion for teaching and earned my degree in Elementary Education. Along the way, I married my husband, Collin, and we are happy to call Howard City home. In our free time, we love spending time outdoors and enjoying everything Michigan's seasons have to offer. Some of our favorite activities include golfing, playing pickleball, and skiing or snowboarding during the winter.
This fall, I am especially excited to welcome our newest Vikings into Kindergarten! I can't wait to build meaningful relationships with my students and watch them grow throughout the school year! I look forward to meeting many of you and making this a wonderful year together. Go Vikings!

We are excited to introduce Miss Wardell, who is joining the staff at Tri County Elementary. We know she be a wonderful addition to our school community, and we look forward to a great year ahead.
Meet the newest member of our team:
Hello, everyone! My name is Emily Wardell and I'm excited to be joining the TCE team this year as a Kindergarten teacher! I recently graduated from Ferris State University with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Go Dawgs! With this being my first year teaching, I can't wait to learn and grow with my students. I look forward to building relationships, creating a fun and welcoming learning environment, and helping my students discover a love for learning. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, being outdoors, and exploring new places. I am also a HUGE Detroit Lions fan! I look forward to a fun and memorable year and I can't wait to get to know all my Kindergarten friends!

Hi!
My name is Isabelle Blake and I am thrilled to officially be joining the Tri County Middle School team this upcoming school year!
This past spring I graduated from Ferris State University with a bachelors degree in Secondary Social Studies Education after completing my student teaching at TCMS. I love helping students have fun in the classroom while simultaneously learning and connecting curriculum to current life scenarios. Middle school is such a unique and exciting time filled with growth, change, and new opportunities. I am so excited to support and cheer students on throughout this time- not only as their teacher, but also as another friendly face!
Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time with my husband, tending to my fruit and vegetable garden, baking, and going for walks with our Labrador Retriever, Nellie. My husband and I both attended TCMS as students so it truly is such a full circle moment to be back!
I am looking forward to growing strong relationships with TC students, family, and staff throughout the 2026-2027 school year!

Your generosity and support of our schools are truly appreciated. We are grateful for community partners like Viking Sign Solutions who continue to invest in our students and help us create memorable experiences for our Viking families.
Thank you for helping us make Viking Voyage a success!

Welcome to the Team:
I am Jeff Norey and will be the new STEM Design Lab teacher! I am excited to bring my background in engineering, design, and creative problem solving skills to our students at TCE. Both of my children are students at TCE. This coming year, Wyatt will be in 1st grade, and Lyla will be in 3rd grade. My wife, Megan, is a surgical RN at Butterworth in Grand Rapids. Both of my parents are retired teachers, so you could say I was "born into teaching." When I am not at school, I enjoy taking my family to find new experiences and explore the outdoors. I am very excited to become part of the TCE family! See you all in August!

As you make plans to attend Viking Voyage: Back to School Open House & Community Event, please use the parking map to help you determine where to park and how to get to the event.
Parking Suggestions
We suggest that each family park at their child’s school building and take advantage of the shuttle services to and from the event.
Free Shuttle Service
Tri County Area Schools will provide two shuttle buses, including a handicap-accessible bus, running between the Elementary Building and High School Building throughout the event.
Overflow Parking
Additional overflow parking will be available at Heritage United Methodist Church. A shuttle bus will transport families to and from the church and Viking Voyage.
Handicap-Accessible Parking
Handicap-accessible parking will be available at each school building as well as at the bus hub directly across from the event.

The main road by the football field will be blocked to allow our Food Trucks to safely operate during Viking Voyage. Please plan your route and parking accordingly.
Please use the parking map to find the best parking location for your family and follow the directions of Tri County staff and shuttle drivers when you arrive.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to make parking and transportation as easy and safe as possible for everyone attending!
