Tri County Area Schools has been awarded $71,600 in Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) Start-Up Grant funds to support the continued expansion of early childhood programming at the MacNaughton Learning Center.

The grant, written by Tri County’s Director of Assessment & Accountability, Corrie Mervyn, will help strengthen learning opportunities for our youngest learners while continuing to grow access to high-quality preschool programming for families in our community.

The full $71,600 grant will be used to purchase and install brand new playground equipment at MacNaughton Learning Center. The new equipment will provide preschool students with a safe, engaging outdoor play environment that supports physical development, creativity, and social interaction—key components of early childhood learning.

The MacNaughton Learning Center continues to serve as the district’s hub for early childhood programs, including Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) preschool classrooms and partnerships with community organizations such as 8CAP Head Start and the Montcalm Area ISD Birth-to-Five Playgroup.

Superintendent Ryan Biller shared that investments like this are an important part of the district’s long-term commitment to early learning.

“High-quality early childhood programs help lay the foundation for lifelong learning. This grant will allow us to enhance the environment at MacNaughton while continuing to expand opportunities for young learners and their families across our community.”

Installation of the new playground equipment is expected to take place this spring.

Tri County Area Schools appreciates the leadership and dedication of Corrie Mervyn in securing this funding and supporting the district’s ongoing efforts to expand early childhood opportunities for local families.
